Stay Visible and Safe for Others
I have been advocating living your truth openly for the past 30 years. Today that mantra carries a new risk.
The President of the United States has declared there are only two genders, that diversity, transgendered individuals are denied their identity and personhood, equality and inclusion are to be purged from government doctrine, that birthright citizenship shall be denied, borders closed and immigrants gathered up, confined and expelled from the country.
Over the past 30 years as we in the GLBT community have fought for civil rights and equal treatment we have also become visible. On birth certificates, marriage licenses, passports and Center for Medicare and Medicaid we have self-identified as part of the GLBT community. Together with social media and the internet there is no going back. We are known by name, rank and serial number.
Be vigilant to be safe. Regardless of the bullying, threats and intimidation we continue to stand up and speak our truth on behalf of ourselves and others.
By being visible we are also safe for others who know there is a hand to hold for comfort.

The 47th President of the United States is a felon, habitual liar, cheat, egomaniac, bully, without dignity, grace or integrity. He has just released his hoodlums from prison who will now be standing in waiting for his next orders. He has a Congress that will blindly approve his unfit cabinet to run the country for the next 4 years. He has pulled the chains of the worlds riches men and women to play in his sand box at risk of losing their ability to manage independent social media platforms.
Curiously, he is a liar about the past and yet he has been absolutely truthful about his about his intent to change America. The document Project 2025 has laid out the plans for restructuring the United States government and agencies.
Within the first week in office he has weaponized the military to deal with the “crisis” at the border. All Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DEI) language and actions are removed from the federal government websites and work areas. He has placed on furlough iindividuals who have been in charge of these programs within the government and encourages businesses to do the same. He Has fired the Coast Guard Service Chief for supporting the DEI and blaming her for inadequate border support. While he was responsible for Congress not passing a bill to improve border security. He is targeting immigrants regardless of status in the US. There is no sanctuary in churches, hospitals or schools.
He had declared there are only two genders thereby marginalizing trans people and turning their lives upside down. No longer do they have valid identifications, passports or birth certificates. Continuous treatment and surgery will be limited as their very lives and safety will be in jeopardy.
All research communication and information regarding adverse effects of treatments are to cease. No further research to proceed until reviewed. Experimental drug treatments are halted and our friends are at risk of losing their lives as they are denied life saving medications.
We must be vigilant. We must protest, we must support legal organizations who will fight on our behalf through the courts. We must prevail. Resist, be outraged, be outspoken, be brave. Walk hand in hand with your fellow human, be charitable, be kind.
